A baby mourning dove enters the world. After a few minutes of assisting the chick in getting out of the egg, the parent dove will remove both halves of the eggshell from the nest. Only a few minutes after hatching, the baby dove gets it's first meal. Parent doves excrete "crop milk"--a nutritious meal for the chicks. But, the process doesn't look terribly pleasant for either party.
